I did my first show this year.
I did it for personnal reason. I'm a shy person and wanted to prove myself I could do it and prove some people who didn't believe in me. Turned out to be the greatest experience ever. No feeling gets close to a crowd cheering for you. |

Yes
did 1st one in 00, second in 02 and will be doing 3rd in Nov this year. For me, i love it. Being a shy guy, I really have fun being on stage. Also if i didn't do it for me, it would be like always going to practice but never playing a game. I love to compete in anything I have done.

Personally I have really been thinking about getting on that stage and showing everyone my physique, but the more I read and the more I see with my own eyes, it just doesnt seem like its worth it to me.. there are so many good pros out there right now, and believe or not they cant even make a decent living from bodybuilding, there is no money in the sport unless your either Ronnie Coleman or Jay Cutler... the smart people make the money, not saying that bodybuilders arent smart but the guys that use the bodybuilders are the ones that actually make the doe... Everyone please do me a favor, Get this months Muscular Development and read the article on Lee Priest and why he is discontinuing bodybuilding.. this article is in his own words...

Serb you've got the wrong attitude towards competition. If you're only doing it to make money, be famous, or win the "O" etc then I'd suggest you go and put that effort into the stockmarket or some other money making enterprise.
But if you want to compete to further your physique, and use it (competition) as a catalist to train and eat as perfectly as humanly possible. Then you'll enjoy the whole experiance of getting into the best shape possible and hitting the stage. This is no different than guys/gals continuing to play hockey, soccer, baseball etc well into old age. They know full well that they are never going to be a pro making stupid amounts of money, but they enjoy being competitive, and pushing themselves to the limit. Oh and lets not forget powerlifting. Here's a sport with possibly the strongest athletes in the world, and yet they make little or no money. So this begs the question; why do it? As a former powerlifter I did it for bragging rights, as well as the fun of competeing. IMO if you have the right attitude towards competition and your "career" in bodybuilding then you'll last alot longer in the sport and enjoy yourself in the process. |

Nope, I don't compete yet. Depending on how all my bulks and cuts go, I may someday. At my age and progress, I might as well wait until I reach grand master age.

Used to compete. Third place in Ontarios back in '96 as a LHW. Soon to be of Masters age, and still debating returning to competition.
